After more than 30 years of successful trading, The Billington Group has announced that the business has been acquired by James Jones & Sons (Pallet and Packaging) Ltd, one of the UK’s leading pallet manufacturing and packaging businesses.
The deal will see James Jones & Sons (Pallet and Packaging) Ltd take immediate control of the Billington Group, with the business operations continuing from Billington’s current office and warehouse premises in Rotherham to ensure a smooth transition for the Group’s long-standing and loyal customer base.
The Billington Group was launched in 1985 by Frank Billington, with wife Diane joining the business some years later, and has grown to become the UK’s leading provider of wooden pallet collars, with an unrivalled reputation for quality products and customer service. The product range includes new pallet collars, used and recycled pallet collars and pallet collar accessories and the business supplies a broad range of businesses, both industrial and retail, across the UK and internationally.
Part of the leading UK sawmilling group, James Jones & Sons Ltd – a 180-year-old family-owned business – James Jones & Sons (Pallets and Packaging) Ltd was formed in 2016 following the acquisition of Unit Pallets in Golborne, TWP in Gateshead and Larch in Wrexham. Under the leadership of Managing Director, Peter McKenzie, and Executive Chairman, Gil Covey, the business has since been expanded to 11 sites across the UK.
